What does a digital product sale leave after costs?

Test a price before choosing a selling platform or making a discount. Start with the digital product pricing guide or compare Gumroad alternatives.

Example inputs, not provider rates. Replace every cost with your actual terms. No signup, account connection or entry upload. Your inputs are not stored when you close or reload this page. Use browser Print to save a copy.

Your assumptions

Use one currency for all costs. No conversion.
Example: software and the creation costs you want to recover.
Example: per-order support, affiliate or delivery cost.

If a platform fee already includes processing, set both processing fields to zero. For mixed sales channels or volume tiers, calculate each group separately.

How the calculation works

Contribution per sale = price − platform fee − processing fee − other per-order costs. Break-even sales = fixed costs ÷ contribution, rounded up to a whole sale. With no positive contribution, extra sales cannot cover positive fixed costs.

Percentage fees are calculated on the entered pre-tax price and rounded separately to the nearest cent per order. Actual providers may calculate fees on a different basis, including collected tax. This model excludes sales tax, income tax, refunds, disputes, currency conversion, payout fees and costs you have not entered. It assumes the same price and fees for every order. Verify your own terms before making a decision.
